Charter challenge launched on behalf of caWsbar

Dear Friends and Supporters of caWsbar,

We're excited to finally share this very important development in women's sex-based rights with you.

Today, on behalf of caWsbar, the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) announced a Charter challenge to the Attorney General of Canada, focused on the harms caused to women by the placement or transfer of transgender-identified male inmates into women’s prisons.

Please read the JCCF's news release for details.

This legal challenge—brought forward by Charter Advocates Canada, a law firm associated with the JCCF—has been developed in close collaboration with caWsbar co-founder Heather Mason.

To proceed with the case, caWsbar formally incorporated as a non-profit organization in June 2024.

We will keep our newsletter subscribers and the public informed as the case unfolds—and share how you can support this vital challenge to ensure that the sex-based rights of all women in Canada, including marginalized and incarcerated women, are protected from dangerous male offenders who are currently weaponizing existing law against us

We are deeply grateful to the JCCF and CAC for their dedication to our cause -- and for your ongoing defense and support of women and girls in Canada.
